Do you know the coating on CNC inserts? I believe that people who are rooted in metal processing industry and numerical control field all the year round must be familiar. But do you really understand coating? What do you know about the effect of coating? Today, I'd like to show you the role of the colorful coating on the carbide numerical control blade.
The coated tool is obtained by coating a thin layer of refractory metal or non-metallic compound (which can also be coated on ceramic, diamond, cubic boron nitride and other superhard materials) on the surface of cemented carbide or high speed steel (HSS) with good strength and toughness by means of vapor deposition. As a chemical barrier and thermal barrier, the composition of coated tool reduces the diffusion and chemical reaction between tool and workpiece, thus reducing the wear of crescent groove. The coated tool has the characteristics of high surface hardness, good wear resistance, chemical stability, heat resistance and oxidation resistance, small friction coefficient and low thermal conductivity. When cutting, it can increase the tool life by more than 3 ~ 5 times, increase the cutting speed by 20% ~ 70%, improve the machining accuracy by 0.5 ~ 1, and reduce the tool consumption by 20% ~ 50%.
In other words, the coating of tungsten carbide CNC inserts can be coated with high-quality wear-resistant layer on the common base material to extend the tool life and improve the cutting parameters!
